Leading Italian mosaic and marble brand Fantini Mosaici joined creative forces with Louis Vuitton to create inviting interior floors for the French Maison’s luxurious new boutiques in Italy.
Milan based Fantini Mosaici laid over 500 square metres of magnificent handmade fashion-forward floors that welcome customers in the Louis Vuitton store in the heart of Florence. The mosaic artisans installed precious marbles throughout the two-floor space of the 19th century Palazzo Strozzi, said to be one best example of Renaissance architecture in Tuscany. The floors were laid with natural Travertino Navona, Giallo Siena and Rosso Levanto marble in various patterns to complement the traditional colours of the Florentine Rennaisance, including tones of Florentine blue and soft sandstone grey.
Fantini Mosaici also created the Venetian terrazzo flooring for the Louis Vuitton store in Palazzetto of the Rinascente, Via del Tritone, Rome. The store, situated in a building from the 1900s, is located just above the site of an ancient aqueduct that dates back to 19 BC.
Leading architect Peter Marino and the Louis Vuitton Architectural Department designed the store to follow the old waterway’s curved lines. Fantini Mosaici decorated almost 300 square metres of floor space with their signature terrazzo. The artisans incorporated the iconic floral LV monogram in shades of brown and beige into the terrazzo floors. Terrazzo speckled with marble chips adds to the glamorous retail space.
