IEG: Superfaces Lite 2021 will be held in the Rimini Expo Center from 13 to 15 October
The new exhibition devoted to the world of surfaces will be given a more functional format in 2021 and rescheduled to coincide with SIA Hospitality Design. A look at the 2022 edition
SUPERFACES, the innovative multi-sector B2B marketplace devoted to the world of surfaces for architecture, interior design and contract furnishings, has changed its formula but not its content. The event is organised by IEG Italian Exhibition Group, a leading Italian exhibition organiser and one of the top European players in the exhibition and congress sector with facilities in Rimini and Vicenza.
This year’s show will be a special inaugural edition aimed at positioning the new SUPERFACES brand more effectively on the market and giving greater visibility and recognition to sector companies that do not yet have an event tailored specifically to their needs.
The 2021 show will be called SUPERFACES LITE to identify it as a preview of SUPERFACES 2022, which will be held at the end of September 2022 during Surfaces Week in conjunction with all the other events in the surface coverings sector.
The new event, which will give plenty of space to the latest and most innovative materials in a sector that brings together tradition and innovation, has been rescheduled for 13-15 October 2021 in the Rimini Expo Centre to coincide with SIA Hospitality Design, the only trade fair in Italy dedicated exclusively to the world of hospitality and the latest concepts in hotel design. The new dates will allow exhibiting companies to present their products and innovations to a carefully selected audience of designers and architecture firms, general managers, hotel owners and decision makers from international chains and non-hotel accommodation facilities. The show will also benefit from its association with another leading trade fair, the TTG tourism marketplace, and with the exhibitions and special areas that will be hosting Italian and international architecture firms operating in the hospitality sector during the same three days in adjacent halls in Rimini.
In Hall D5, the organisers of SUPERFACES LITE will create a lean exhibition area designed to provide maximum visibility for participating companies with a coordinated design. The same hall will also host the Superfaces Academy (a space that will provide training on technical topics such as installation, choice of materials and sustainability) and the Alchimie theme area, which will focus on hybridisation between unusual combinations of materials, curated by architect and designer Giulio Ceppi.
Superfaces Lite, the first trade fair catering for the entire world of materials for interiors, design and architecture, will begin with a round table discussion between four top architectural firms: Stefano Boeri Architetti, Marco Piva, Giuseppe Leida Associati and Total Tool. All four practices will present case studies regarding the use of surfaces and focusing in particular on functionality, design and a fusion of styles and materials. The inaugural event, entitled “Surfaces and New Design”, will take place on Wednesday 13 October at 3.30 p.m. in the Superfaces Academy in Hall D5 of the Rimini Expo Centre, where Superfaces Lite will be held.
The participants will be Anastasia Kucherova (architect and interior designer at Stefano Boeri Architetti), Armando Bruno (partner and CEO of Studio Marco Piva), Giuseppe Leida (founder and sole partner of GLA - Giuseppe Leida Associati) and Giulio Ceppi (creative director of Total Tool). The event will be introduced and moderated by Patrizia Catalano, a journalist for INTERNI.
The world of architecture is facing multiple challenges deriving from the new behaviours and practices that have emerged since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. In particular, the new residential sector, hospitality and catering, and the world of retail have all had to take account of new ways of using space and new concepts of leisure and work time. A new approach to architecture and a rethinking of the spaces and venues of contemporary culture clearly have a crucial role to play in this context. As a result, we are witnessing a sea change in the design world, with surface design in particular accounting for some of today’s most innovative projects. The innovation and creativity for which Italian design is renowned is not limited to products but is increasingly establishing itself in the field of architectural materials. The way a location is perceived can change significantly according to the quality of its surface coverings, with material, texture and colour all recognised as factors capable of determining the quality of the designed space. The conference entitled “Surfaces and New Design” is intended to serve as a springboard for dialogue within the world of design based on the reformulation of design codes and in accordance with a new, more sustainable and more conscious use of materials and surface design.
The event is organised by IEG - Italian Exhibition Group, an international player in the exhibition and convention sector and the creator of Superfaces Lite.
